Taos Wool Festival Dye Class

I taught a dye class at the Taos Wool Festival.  The focus was reds: shifting colors with bases and acids; and blacks.  The water at the class was different.  The reds didn’t behave as I would have expected so there was something in the water that caused them to not shift as much as one would expect with either the acids or the bases.

As we were using the reds to get blacks, there was a similar issue with trying to get black.  The best one we got was with madder rt, indigo, and iron.  The samples were wool.
